At Helm Recruitment, your privacy is important to us and we are committed to protecting the privacy and protection of your personal information. Helm Recruitment complies with the privacy laws and National Privacy Policy established by the Privacy Act 1988.

When you provide us with your personal information, we will endeavour to keep such information private and be used only in accordance with this policy. By agreeing to provide us your personal information, you also consent for us to collect, hold, use and disclose your information in accordance with this privacy policy that may be helpful with further processing of your application.

What is Personal Information?

Personal information is any information or opinion about you that includes opinions others provide about your work performance, your qualifications, work experience, personal sensitive information and other regular information collected by us in connection with your possible work placement. This information can be accessed by Helm Recruitment at any time.

What is Personal Sensitive Information?

It is a specific category of personal information and opinions about you that includes-

  • Racial background/ethnic origin.
  • Criminal record
  • Health issues or disability (if any)
  • Membership of political association/ religious beliefs/ philosophical beliefs
  • Membership of any professional or trade association
  • Membership of trade union.

How we collect your personal information?

Information (personal or sensitive) about you is collected from you directly when you register with us or provide us with any other information in connection with your application. Information is also collected from:

  • References we receive about you
  • Results of any psychometric or medical test/ assessment
  • Performance feedback (positive or negative)
  • Complaint from or about you in the workplace
  • Your involvement in any workplace incident
  • Information about any insurance investigation/litigation/professional disciplinary matter/criminal matter/inquest etc.
  • Any additional information provided by you

Personal information about you is collected and stored in Helm Recruitment’s database. The type of information we collect and hold falls in the following categories:

  • Your name
  • Mailing address
  • Telephone number
  • E-mail address
  • Your educational background and qualifications
  • Your career history
  • Details of competency test or information related to your career
  • Your personal interests

Purposes to hold your Personal Information with us

The personal information obtained from you is held and used by our company in connection with:

  • Possible work placements
  • Performance appraisals
  • Assessment of your ongoing performance
  • Identification of your training needs
  • Client and business relationship management

Distributing & sharing of personal information

We may disclose and share your personal information to the following people:

  • Potential and actual employers
  • Referees
  • Professional association or registration body with proper interest in the disclosure of your information
  • Workers’ Compensation body (if applicable)
  • Our contractors
  • Person with lawful entitlement to obtain your information

In some cases we may disclose your information only with your consent.

If you do not provide us the required information

In cases where you do not provide the adequate information required:

  • It may limit our ability to find suitable work for you
  • It may limit our ability to proceed with recruitment process
  • It may limit our ability to proceed with your application for placement in a specified area

Security of your Personal Information

We take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy or electronically. We have security procedures in place to protect your personal information.

For example, your personal information is stored in secured offices and in computerised databases which require a log in and password to gain access.  Access to the database is only available to those who require such access. All staff are bound by a confidentiality agreement regarding company and customer information. Visitors to our premises are always accompanied by a member of staff for the duration of the visit.

We use secure methods to destroy or de-identify personal information as soon as the law permits and provided that the information is no longer needed by us.

Helm Recruitment does not accept responsibility for the security of information while it is being transmitted to us over the Internet.

We, at Helm Recruitment, take every possible security measures to protect your valuable personal information from unauthorized access, modification and disclosure. If you advise us that you are no longer looking for work opportunities and therefore do not wish to be registered with us, we will de-identify your data base record and destroy your personal information, unless you advise us otherwise or unless it is a requirement by law such as retained tax/wages information.

We may ask you to verify your identity or seek more information about your request. We may also refuse your request and provide you with reasons for doing so, where we are legally permitted to do so.

If you wish to access your personal information, you should contact our Privacy Coordinator. However, we may refuse the access if it would interfere with the privacy rights of other person or breach any confidentiality attached to the information.

Helm Recruitment reserves the right to review, update and change this Privacy Policy without prior notice.
